１ without fail→必ず、間違いなく

3 by chance = by accident , accidentally(偶然に）
※on purpose （故意に）
４ miss → （～を）見うけそこなう
５ lose → （人や方向を）見失う
６ fail to → ～しそこなう
７ avoid ～ing → ～するのをさける
８ have + 目的語＋動詞の原形 → ～させる, ～してもらう
９ borrow → ～を借りる
１０ hire → ～を雇う
１１ lend → （人）に（物）を貸す
１２ rent → ～を賃借りする, 賃貸しする
１３ Do you mind ～？
（～することを気にしますか？＝～してもいいですか？）
Do you mind if I open the window ? (窓を開けていい？)

１４ It is (was) ～that .....(・・・・なのは～) 強調構文
※ We decided to return because my sister became sick.
→ It was because my sister became sick
that we decided to return.
15 get (become ) used to ～ing （～に慣れる）
※I'm not used to driving on left.（左運転には慣れていない）
